A Spring Hill resident is alive but in critical condition after having been saved from a residential fire.
The Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) said that around 6 a.m. on June 7, fire crews responded to a call about a residential fire on the 8000 Block of Elgrove St. in Spring Hill.
Upon arrival, crews found the single-family home engulfed in fire and smoke. They were also told that someone was still inside the burning building.
Firefighters subsequently entered the building, located and removed the victim.
They searched the residence but found no one else inside, the agency said.
After paramedics administered emergency medical care at the scene, the person found inside the house was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
