Spring Hill resident Joel Fritton has been named to serve as a judge for Florida’s 5th Circuit Court. Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the appointment on June 11.
Since 2013, Fritton has served as legal counsel to Sheriff Al Nienhuis and the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO). Prior to that, he was an Assistant State Attorney in the 6th Judicial Circuit.
“I am happy to have this trust placed in me and I appreciate the opportunity,” he said. “I recognize the immense responsibility that I have been entrusted with, and I am honored to serve the citizens of the Fifth Judicial Circuit.”
Fritton fills the judicial vacancy resulting left by the retirement of Judge Edward Scott.
