The school board awarded a $3.65 million bid to three different companies for general construction services at the June 8, 2021 board meeting. Prior to approval, School Board member Jimmy Lodato pulled the item from the consent agenda so that additional explanation to the public could be provided by the district’s facilities director Brian Ragan.
Ragan explained that the three companies: Grosz Construction Co., Inc., Waller Construction, Inc., and Undestad Contracting Services are not just used by the facilities department, but also maintenance, for fire safety projects, playgrounds and school hardening.
“The funding is from various sources,” Ragan said. He mentioned the half cent sales tax and safety funds.
The agenda item description states, “This project will be funded with various accounts including Half-Cent Sales Tax, Capital & Impact Fee Funds from Facilities & Construction, Maintenance & Safe Schools.”
