Softball All County Team

It was another stellar season of prep softball throughout Hernando County, as the Hernando Leopards were the last County team left standing. Making it to the state championship game before falling 5-0 to Eustis. From the start of the season back in February all the way to the Class 4A state finals, there were plenty of individual performances that should be recognized. We compiled a list of the top softball players from this past season with the Hernando Sun’s All-Hernando Softball Team. 

P – McKenna Carr, Sophomore, Nature Coast Technical: Carr had a 3.77 ERA, 10-5 record and struck out 50 batters she faced. At the plate, Carr had a .300 batting average with 15 hits and nine RBIs.

P – Ava Braswell, Freshman, Hernando: She went 14-3 with a 2.16 ERA, with 73 strikeouts and 31 earned runs through 18 appearances. Braswell pitched 100.2 innings and only walked 28 batters of the 385 she faced. 

C – Raquel Camuglia, Senior, Springstead: Camuglia played primarily at catcher and she hit .557 with 47 runs batted in and eight home runs.

INF – Olivia Townsend, Senior, Hernando: The sensational senior batted .430, had 37 hits, drove in 39 runs and belted six home runs.

INF – Savannah Ellis, Sophomore, Hernando: Ellis provided solid fielding for the Leopards, only committing three errors all season. McMath also batted .472, drove in 39 runs and had 42 hits. 

INF – Tori Ratigan, Senior, Nature Coast Technical: She hit .578, scored 41 runs and had 52 hits while playing solid in the infield for the Sharks. 

INF – Izzy LaRoche, Sophomore, Nature Coast Technical: LaRoche played all over the field, as she hit .512 with 32 runs batted in and six homers.

OF – Damaylis Rosario, Sophomore, Weeki Wachee: She scored 10 runs, 19 hits and 15 RBIs to go along with a .365 batting average.

OF – Hannah Taylor, Sophomore, Hernando: Taylor was a key cog in the Leopards’ run to the state championship against Eustis. The sophomore batted .435, scored 41 runs, had 47 hits, drove in 34 runs and hit four home runs.

OF – Harper Bunn, Junior, Nature Coast Technical: The junior outfielder was one of the best players on the Sharks. Bunn batted .463 with 31 hits, 30 runs batted in and six triples. 

UTILITY – Madison Moran, Senior, Weeki Wachee: Moran led the Hornets in team batting average at .441 and notched 26 hits, scored 17 runs and drove in 14 runs. Only committed three errors through 24 games played.
