Whether they wish to act, sing or dance their way across the stage, performing arts enthusiasts will find much to like about the new class schedule at Brooksville’s Live Oak Conservatory.

Live Oak Theatre announced that registration for classes at the Live Oak Conservatory will take place Saturday, August 21, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Carol & Frank Morsani Center for the Arts, 21030 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville.

Live Oak Theatre offers a wide range of opportunities for children (PRE-K – 18) and adults to learn about all the performing arts. Some of the classes offered include beginning and advanced tap, jazz and ballet, voice, musical theatre, improv and acting at various levels. Featuring group classes and private lessons in acting, improv, youth art, musical theatre, singing, hip hop, tap, jazz, ballet, Acro, and most musical instruments including piano, guitar, and violin.

“We offer the total musical theatre experience,” said Vince Vanni, Live Oak spokesperson. “Dance, voice, acting, etc., are taught as part of the total experience.” Private lessons in a wide range of musical instruments also are taught at the conservatory. All classes are taught by veteran performers and instructors, with this season also offering a number of exciting new features and developments.

“We have something new and something old,” said Randi Hoidalen Olsen, the Founder and Artistic Director of the Live Oak Theatre Company as well as a private instructor of voice, flute and piano. “The new is Kat Burburan teaching Ballet and Jessalyn Mitten teaching Pre-K and the younger kids to dance. Both are in their early 20’s with at least 10 years experience in dance. The ‘old’ is the return of Vince Vanni teaching acting.”

Vanni is excited about his return to the conservatory. “I did not teach last year, for a variety of reasons. However, I received so many requests that I decided to put together two programs; an introduction to acting, as well as an 8 week acting program completely tailored to the students who are in the class,” said Vanni. “I did this during summer camp and we all had a blast.  Remember my official quote, ‘I am not training the next generation of New York City cab drivers and waiters. I teach a skill that can be used anywhere.  I teach creativity and leadership.’”

And each of his students has claimed their own starring role on the global stage,” says Vanni. “Most of my former students are now lawyers, doctors, marketing directors, public information officers and major leaders. Check out Matt Pagano, Executive Director of the Republican Party in Michigan. I had him from age 10 through 12,” he said.

This year’s schedule features intro to acting, youth art, improv, tap, musical theatre, hip hop, adult improv, lyrical dance (advanced), ballet, youth theatre, ladies dance, pre-k dance (ages 2-4), primary dance combo, junior improv, jazz, senior improv, primary tap, and acro. Instruments taught at the conservatory include piano, voice, flute, guitar, bass guitar, trombone, trumpet, drums, ukulele, and more.
