Motorists can expect slow traffic on Broad Street from downtown Brooksville south to Ingram Street for nearly two years while road crews repave the six-lane road and rebuild the Wiscon Road intersection.
The $9.2 million project calls for resurfacing Broad Street (U.S. 41) from Ingram to just north of Lamar Avenue, about a mile on each side of the State Road 50 Truck Route. The work will also include rebuilding the Broad Street-Wiscon Road intersection using concrete, along with new medians at several places along the corridor.
Officials noted the work will require closures of the left lane in both directions of Broad Street from VFW Road to Barnett Road 24 hours a day until the end of August.
According to project spokesman John McShaffrey, construction began July 7 and is scheduled for completion by Spring 2023. Ajax Paving Industries of Florida LLC is the contractor.
