The Hernando Historical Museum Association is an ALL volunteer group committed to sharing information about Hernando County and Florida history.
The Covid virus and the failing health of many of the tour guides (docents) and staff have taken a toll on the organizations. It takes a surprisingly large number of people to cover the three buildings on a weekly basis.
The typical volunteer spends three to four hours a week at either the May-Stringer house, the 1885 Depot or the One-room schoolhouse. Training is provided specific to each building. People are also needed for office work, yard work, special events, cleaning, painting and small repairs.
Everyone is busy these days. So, time is a valuable product and your gift of time to the Museums would be appreciated. You can be the doorway to letting Hernando County residents and guests experience the fascinating views of history found in the Museums.
The volunteer application form can be found at any of the Museums or at the website: www.hernandohistoricalmuseumassoc.com. If you have questions or suggestions, please call 352-799-0129 and leave a message.
