High School Sports Week 9/20 – 9/25

Football

A victory for Hernando Leopards as they marked their first win for the season against Pasco last week.

Friday night on Sept. 17th, the Leopards will travel to Citrus High School (0-2) to play on the Hurricane’s home turf. Springstead will travel to Pasco High School (0-2) and Nature Coast Tech will play at Cypress Creek (2-0).

Friday night home games: Central vs Land O’ Lakes (2-0), Weeki Wachee vs Hudson (2-0). Team kick-offs start at 7:30 pm on Friday, Sept. 17th.

Volleyball 

Weeki Wachee’s volleyball coach Noemi Rivera is keeping her players active.  While preparing for the two-day volleyball tournament at Fivay, the Lady Hornets will meet the Lady Sharks on their court on Tuesday, Sept. 21st. Nature Coast Tech will play another home game against Hudson on Wednesday night. The following week for the Lady Sharks there will be a good level of competitiveness. Cypress Creek is currently at 5-1 and Mitchell at 6-0.

Central will play at South Sumter for another match on Monday, Sept. 20th. They competed against South Sumter in their first game of the season and took in their first win. In this match, the Lady Bears look to bring home another win.

Hernando Leopards volleyball team has back-to-back games, taking on Central Sept. 22nd and Springstead on the 23rd. Springstead has a three-game week ahead of them. Inviting Lecanto to their home court and traveling to Crystal River High school, then back home to compete against Hernando.

Golf

In the previous matches, the weather played a big factor on the green. Hopefully, there will be more Florida sunshine for the upcoming schedule.

Monday, Sept. 27th is the date to be on the green. Hernando Christian Academy, Springstead, Nature Coast Tech, Central, Hernando, and Weeki Wachee will all compete in the boy’s varsity tournament at Hernando Oaks Golf and Country Club in Spring Hill. Tee-off begins at 9:30 am.

Swimming 

Springstead boys and girls will compete on Thursday, Sept. 25th at Citrus Memorial Health Foundation YMCA in Lecanto. Hernando boys and girls swim meet will be held at Hernando YMCA on Sept. 25th against Weeki Wachee.

Cross Country

Hernando boys and girls cross country teams travel to Lecanto again on September 23rd for the Lecanto High School Mini Meet. Two invitationals are happening locally on Saturday, Sept. 25th; Shark Invite and the Central Bears Invitational.

Weeki Wachee and Springstead cross country teams will be participating at the Central Bears Invitational. Nature Coast Tech is hosting their Shark Invitational.
