The Hernando County Button Collectors are sponsoring a Button Buddies and Craft Festival to benefit the Museum Association on Saturday, September 25th.
There are hundreds of thousands of button collectors in the world. In fact, according to Anne Buckingham who is the president of the Hernando County group, button collecting is the third largest collectors group right behind stamp and coin collecting. Ms. Buckingham says that “buttons are miniature pieces of art!”
Virginia Rusk, an avid button collector and museum board member describes button collecting as, “Surprisingly interesting and is a great way to learn history.”
The festival will feature many displays of buttons including jewelry and art, a short film, other crafts vendors, a silent auction and drawing. CJ Grill and Outback Jack food trucks will also be selling lunch and sweet treats.
Button Buddies and Craft Festival will be on the Good Neighbor Trail side at the 1885 Train Depot and One-room Schoolhouse at 70 Russell Street in Brooksville 34601; Saturday, September 25th from 9am – 3pm.
Smithsonian Museum Day on Saturday, September 18th. Go to https://www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/museum-day-2021/ for free tickets to the museums.
