Hernando County Assistant State Attorney Erin Corcoran Daly has been named Prosecutor of the Year by Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody. Moody made the announcement during the 2021 Human Trafficking Summit on Oct. 5.
A Florida Assistant State Attorney in the 5th Judicial Circuit at the Hernando County Courthouse in Brooksville for the past 15 years, Daly has prosecuted serious felonies involving crimes against children, rapists, murder cases, and other violent offenders. She is a member of several Anti-Crime Task Forces, including those working against Domestic Violence, Internet Crimes against Children, Human Trafficking, and Sexual Violence, and has received a Distinguished Service Award by the Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency.
She is currently a candidate to become the Hernando County Judge for Florida’s Fifth Judicial Circuit.
Daley said that she was humbled to receive the award from Moody and the Florida Statewide Council on Human Trafficking.
“It’s such a privilege to work with the dedicated child protective investigators, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and all the organizations, public and private, who are continuously advocating and battling to keep our most defenseless citizens and children safe and to punish the perpetrators of these atrocious crimes,” she said. “The survivors who have the courage to come forward and share their stories make these challenging cases possible and are the true heroes deserving of praise (and) on behalf of these nameless victims, I am truly honored to be recognized in this fight to end exploitation of our most vulnerable citizens.”
Offered virtually this year, the 2021 Human Trafficking Summit brings together nearly 4,000 local, state, and national leaders from more than 40 states to participate in more than 15 hours of education programs and breakout sessions covering law enforcement, policy, research, and victim care all aimed at eradicating human trafficking.
