Detectives from the Hernando County Sheriff Office (HCSO) Vice and Drug Unit seized a cache of illegal drugs and arrested one woman during a raid on a residence in Weeki Wachee on Oct. 5. The raid took place in response to several complaints of drug activity at the home from other neighborhood residents.
Acting on a warrant, investigators searched a residence at 6354 Richard Drive in Weeki Wachee and discovered 2.3 grams of Methamphetamine, 22.0 grams of Marijuana and 6.5 grams of the prescription drug Legend.
They also found nine rounds of ammunition and several items of drug paraphernalia.
In connection with the search warrant, detectives subsequently arrested the owner of the residence 55-year-old Charlene Marie Nadeau and charged her with possession of Marijuana, possession of Methamphetamine, possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon of Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $22,000.
In connection with a pair of cases related to warrant, detectives also charged Nadeau with Unlawful Use of a Two-way Communication Device, Possession of a Structure to Sell Methamphetamine, and multiple counts of Sale of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to sell, and possession of paraphernalia. Bond in those cases was set at $51,000 and $36,000
Nadeau is being held at the Hernando County Detention Center on a total of $109,000 bond.
An underage person also found in the residence was arrested on misdemeanor narcotics charges, booked into the Hernando County Detention Center and later released to a relative.
In a written statement, Sheriff Al Nienhuis said that the arrest would have a positive impact on the neighborhood.
“While the amount of illegal narcotics seized is not enormous, this resident will no longer be a nuisance to the neighborhood,” Nienhuis said.
The investigation into the cases continues.
