In Friday night’s football game pitting Hernando High and Springstead, members of both teams performed outstandingly well. Most of the significant plays were defensive leading to a low total score of only 10 points. Hernando won with one touchdown whereas Springstead only had a field goal. I would like to commend Hernando High’s running back Jordan Williams for scoring the only touchdown of the game with a 73-yard run.
Springstead’s defense also stood out and was dominant throughout the majority of the game with two interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and forced many punts on fourth down. Yet, the Eagles’ offense was unable to successfully move the ball downfield, despite being given some great field position by the many turnovers. The majority of their offensive strategy consisted of running the ball straight up the middle.
The game was full of energy and fanfare, hyped as the third annual Glory Days Burger Bowl. Glory Days restaurant generously awarded a $1000 scholarship to Hernando High’s Sam Sternberger and a $1000 scholarship to Springstead’s Cross Licht.
