Show us your Sunshine: Helping a Friend in Need

When one helps a friend in need, they bring sunshine to their lives and often when it’s needed most. This is definitely the case with Kelly Wheeler, who is stepping up to help a Hernando family suffering the aftereffects of a devastating house fire. “The family that’s been affected are a Brooksville couple, Charles Turski and Meagyn Dooley. Charles used to work with me at Bayfront Health Brooksville,” she explained.

“On the morning of August 26th, Charles and Meagyn’s house caught on fire. Thankfully Meagyn was at work and Charles was able to get himself and all of their pets out safely. While we’re extremely thankful no one was hurt, they lost irreplaceable possessions, pictures, etc. During the meantime they have stable housing and are waiting on insurance so they can have their house re-built,” she explained.

Wheeler said that the fire is not the first misfortune to affect this family. “They’ve experienced a car accident, scammed out of $4,000 trying to find a new living space, one of their dogs was seriously injured, had to re-home three cats, and lastly they lost their dog Aphrodite,” she said. Wheeler is requesting that the community step forward to aid this family in their time of great need. “While Meagyn and Charles have friends and family to support them they still have extremely tough roads ahead of them. In Charles’ own words, ‘I’m praying for a light at the end of the tunnel’,” she explained.

Kelly Wheeler is asking the community to bring some sunshine into the lives of two very dear friends. “Whether it’s 50¢ or $5 please consider donating so the light can get a little closer for Meagyn and Charles,” said Wheeler.
