A Spring Hill man is dead after he lost control of the motorcycle he was driving and collided with a sedan during the Thanksgiving weekend.
Sgt. Steve Gaskins, public information officer (PIO) for the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said that at 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 28, a 58-year-old man from Spring Hill was driving his motorcycle southbound on Mariner Boulevard at the same time that a 28-year-old woman also from Spring Hill was driving a sedan northbound on Mariner Boulevard.
Near the intersection of Casa Grande Circle, the man lost control of his motorcycle, which entered the median, collided with a storm drain cover, overturned and continued into the northbound lanes of the roadway until the sedan collided with it.
The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained fatal injuries at the scene.
The driver of the sedan sustained minor injuries, Gaskins said.
