A Spring Hill woman has died after the sedan she was driving overturned several times, then finally collided with a tree.
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Spokesman Sgt. Steve Gaskins said that around 4:49 pm on Dec. 4, a sedan driven by a 72-year-old woman from Spring Hill was traveling westbound on Star Road, approaching Erma Road behind a pick-up truck driven by a 16-year-old Brooksville man.
When the woman tried to pass, the right front of the sedan collided with the left rear of the pick-up truck which had come to a controlled stop.
Following the collision, the sedan traveled onto the south shoulder where it overturned several times until it collided with a tree and then a fence.
The woman was transported to an area hospital where she died from injuries that she sustained in the crash.
The driver of the pick-up truck was uninjured.
