Jersey College and Bravera Health have collaborated to establish a school of nursing at the Bravera Health Campus in Brooksville.
Called the Jersey College Professional Nursing Program at Bravera Health Brooksville, the six-semester program leads to an associate of science degree in nursing (ASN). Course work is presented in a combination of classroom and laboratory settings that combine the teaching experience of a college and the clinical expertise of a hospital.
The new program is intended to help the region’s health care providers meet their increasing need for skilled nurses.
“The need for nurses has been high for some time and the pandemic has only increased the demand,” said Joshua DeTillio, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bravera Health Brooksville and Spring Hill. “We believe that engaging with well-educated students to share the values, philosophies, and practices of Bravera Health hospitals will help us care for our communities into the future.”
Greg Karzhevsky, Chancellor of Jersey College said that the school welcomed the opportunity to expand its hospital-based nursing program.
“We look forward to educating the future nursing workforce for Bravera Health and for the region’s communities,” Karzhevsky said. “From our initial meetings, the Bravera Health leadership team has shared our vision for this collaborative model of educating nurses for direct patient care.”
Students may enroll now for inaugural classes that begin in January.
