On Monday, Jan. 3, an Intelligence Unit of the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office arrested Benjamin Daniels, 32, at a bus stop near the intersection of Cortez Boulevard and Winter Street, according to a HCSO press release. The man who was wanted on two felony warrants was reportedly attempting to leave town.
Daniels was charged with two separate incidents, one involving the theft of $380 via four unauthorized withdrawals from a female acquaintance’s Cash App on Sept. 20, 2021. The other felony warrant occurred on Dec. 9, when allegedly, Daniels forcibly entered another female acquaintance’s home on Fort Myers Street where he stole firearms and jewelry, according to the report. The occupant was reportedly not home however several witnesses claim to have spotted Daniels in the area prior to the burglary.
Daniels faces charges of Burglary of a Dwelling while Armed, Dealing in Stolen Property, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Organized Fraud, Criminal Use of Person ID, and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device to Facilitate a Felony. Daniels was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center where he was being held in lieu of a $46,000 bond.
