The Animal Enforcement Unit of the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is hoping the public can help them find the owner of an abused dog found roaming in the 16000 block of Blair Avenue in Brooksville.
Graphic photos of the dog taken by HCSO showed the adult male pit/cur mix with a large zip-tie fastened around its neck that caused the dog’s head to swell significantly.
It took animal enforcement officers three days to capture the dog and to remove the zip-tie.
The dog was transported to Hernando County Animal Services for treatment. Since its capture, the swelling in the animal’s head has subsided.
Anyone with information about the dog or its owner should call the HCSO at 352-754-6830.
