A Brooksville man was injured after the truck he was driving collided with a motorcycle driven by a woman from Floral City.
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Spokesman Sgt. Steve Gaskins said that shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 2, a motorcycle operated by a 55-year-old Floral City woman was traveling northbound on US-41 north of Deer Run Road at the same time a dump truck driven by a 54-year-old man from Brooksville was traveling south on US.41.
In an attempt to pass other traffic, the motorcyclist entered the southbound lane into the truck’s path.
The truck’s driver tried to avoid colliding with the motorcycle by traveling in the roadway’s grass shoulder but the motorcycle still collided with the truck.
As a result of the collision,the driver of the motorcycle, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from her vehicle.
She was taken to an area hospital where she later died from the injuries she sustained in the crash.
The Brooksville man sustained minor injuries.
