Deputies from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office continue to seek whoever is responsible for the gunfire that interrupted an evening youth sporting event at the Delta Woods Park on Deltona Boulevard in Spring Hill last week.
HCSO Deputy Public Information Officer Michael Terry said that on the evening of Feb. 23, multiple gunshots rang out at Delta Woods Park while an athletic event for young people was taking place. One man was struck by the gunfire. Police have not identified that man.
No description of the gunman was available immediately after the incident, but deputies including members of the HCSO’s K-9 and Aviation units took part in the search for the shooter in the area surrounding the park and the residential neighborhood nearby.
The HCSO will provide updates about the incident as they become available, Terry said.
