Join Sierra Club Adventure Coast’s virtual monthly membership meetup on Wednesday, March 16th from 7-8 pm. Our guest speaker is Dr. Savanna Barry, who will present on “Water Quality and Seagrasses Along the Nature Coast”. Dr. Barry is the Regional Specialized Florida Sea Grant Agent at the Nature Coast Biological Station on Cedar Key, Florida. She earned her doctorate at the University of Florida on Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. She will speak on water quality and seagrasses of the Nature Coast, one of North America’s most pristine coastlines, with extensive seagrass meadows, valuable recreational and commercial fisheries, and pristine wildlife populations including marine mammals (manatee, dolphin), diverse water birds, and sea turtles. The region also supports highly valuable shellfish fisheries (shrimp, oyster) and a productive hard clam aquaculture industry.
