Rep Blaise Ingoglia (R-Spring Hill) has garnered the support of Gov. Ron DeSantis in his bid to become the Florida State Senator for District 11. The District encompasses Hernando and Citrus Counties and portions of Pasco County.
Since 2014, Ingoglia has served in the Florida House of Representatives for District 35. He will be termed out of his House seat after the 2022 legislative session.
While announcing the endorsement, DeSantis cited Ingoglia’s conservative record during his tenure in Florida’s House.
“Blaise Ingoglia is a strong conservative who fights to keep Florida free and to deliver for his constituents,” DeSantis posted in a March 14 Tweet. “I endorse Blaise for Senate District 11— he will be a force in the Florida Senate and will serve the people of Pasco, Citrus, Hernando and Sumter counties well.”
Ingoglia called the endorsement “humbling.”
“Across the board, Governor DeSantis and I have been in lockstep on the issues that matter most to conservatives,” Ingoglia said. “Like our Governor, I will unabashedly stand up to defend our freedoms. I look forward to continue fighting for Floridians in the State Senate.”
Ingoglia will face off against State Rep. Ralph Massullo (R-Lecanto) in the Florida primary election on Aug. 23.
A spokesman for the Massullo campaign said that there was “no comment at this time.”
