The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance from the community in locating a MISSING ENDANGERED ADULT.

The missing person, Richard Joseph Adolphe Paquet, and his wife recently arrived in Florida, after having driven from Nova Scotia, Canada.

On May 3, 2022, Paquet was involved in a minor traffic crash in the City of Brooksville. Neither Paquet nor his wife was injured in the accident and he was able to drive his vehicle from the scene of the crash.

However sometime before midnight on May 3, 2022, Paquet backed his vehicle, a pewter-colored panel van, into a driveway at 4039 Companero Entra in Hernando Beach. The Paquets did not know the people who lived at this address.

The people who lived around the house did not see the van in the driveway until that morning. They then contacted law enforcement to report the van.

After the deputies arrived, they talked with Paquet’s wife because Paquet had mysteriously disappeared. According to the deputies, she appeared disoriented and told deputies that she and her husband had stopped there the night before to sleep. She said she had gone to sleep at approximately midnight, and when she went to sleep Richard had still been in the van. However, when the wife awoke in the morning, Richard was nowhere to be seen.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is uncertain what time Richard left the van and whether he left the area on foot. Although the Sheriff’s Office estimates it was sometime between midnight on May 3, and 7:30 AM on May 4.

Family members claimed that Richard does not have any medical and/or mental health issues prior to traveling to Florida. It is unknown if he recently suffered from an unknown medical issue, causing him to act erratically.

Richard Joseph Adolphe Paquet is a white male, 74 years old, 5’5’’, 150 pounds, has brown balding hair, brown eyes with glasses, and was last seen wearing a maroon shirt and black pants. Also, Richard left his wallet and cell phone in the van.

If you have seen Richard Paquet, or know his current whereabouts, please call 9-1-1 or the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office at 352-754-6830. If outside Hernando County, please contact your local law enforcement agency.
