Paul Close of the National Hurricane Center (NHC) advised at 2 pm on June 1, 2022, that Floridians face a 70% chance of development by former Hurricane Agatha. Once it crosses into the Gulf of Mexico, the Tropical Depression will be named Alex.
A rare storm at best, with the Gulf waters already above 80, the latest report from the NHC reports an 80% development chance by Friday evening.
