The Hernando County Tax Collector Driver License office on 11319 Ponce De Leon Blvd/US 98 North, Brooksville, has been temporarily closed since December 30, 2021. Sally Daniel, CFC, Hernando County Tax Collector stated in April to the Hernando Sun that the last update she received is that they hope the building will be up and running by May. It is July and the building is still far from finished, currently, the interior walls are bare studs.
The employees of the Brooksville DMV on 98 are working in the other two locations and at the FLOW bus that is located outside of the Brooksville Courthouse. This bus is provided by the state of Florida to assist in providing issuance of limited drivers license services, such as License and ID credentialing services. The bus is located in the parking lot of the courthouse from 10 am to 3 pm on most days.
All Drivers License services will still be available at the Spring Hill office located at 7489 Forest Oaks Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34606. Driver License Clearances Only are provided at the
Courthouse location at 20 N. Main St – Room 112, Brooksville, FL 34601. Due to long wait times, The Hernando County Tax Collector strongly encourages payments for motor vehicle renewals and property taxes to be made online, by mail, or placed in their DropBox.
Appointments are required for the following services in our Spring Hill office:
• Driving Exam
• HazMat Original or Renewal
• Non-US Citizens

The closed Brooksville DMV requires the residents usually served by that office to travel to Spring Hill for many services. The Spring Hill office has experienced long wait times while the Brooksville office has been undergoing renovations. These long wait times have provided the impetus for the county government to borrow $15 million dollars to build a new westside office for the tax collector near the existing office on Forest Oaks Blvd.
