Brooksville Splash Pad Update

Parks and Recreation Director Angie Whisnant updated the Brooksville City Council on the voting results of the future visitors to the splash pad at Tom Varn Park.

Area kids chose the “Cloverleaf” design for the pad. Four additional features voted in are the “Aqua Triple Acrylic Flower,” “Aqua Twirl Palm,” “Aqua Serpent,” and “Aqua Gumdrop.”

Splashers will be shaded by a structure that is “Bora Bora Blue” in color.

Whisnant added that during discussions with the Recreation Advisory Board other options were discussed based on meeting the general public and the Kiwanis Club, who is partially sponsoring the project. One of these options is an “Aqua Dumping Bucket,” a feature that is literally a giant bucket that spills onto a shade, and ultimately showers visitors below it.

The names and costs for additional options were not available at this meeting. The council directed Whisnant to meet with Kiwanis to determine which of the extra options they would be willing to sponsor entirely.

The Kiwanis Club has requested that their logo be included on the project. Whisnant said the request would be forwarded to the contractor. Kiwanis pays for the logo addition.
