Detectives from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Officer are investigating a shooting near Armstrong Street and Ellington Avenue in South Brooksville. Now they are seeking the person responsible for the incident.
Just after 12:30 a.m., on July 31, deputies patrolling the area saw a large group of people gathered at the intersection of Armstrong Street and Ellington Avenue. Shortly thereafter, they discovered a man who had sustained a single gunshot wound, lying in a field on the southwest side of that intersection.
At the scene, detectives learned the name of the person who may have been responsible for the shooting from several people who were in the area at the time of the incident.
Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) transported the gunshot victim to a local trauma center where physicians classified his injuries as non-threatening.
