The Basics:
Head coach: John Scargle
Last year’s record: 6-5
‘20-’21 record: 7-2
Stadium: Tom Fisher Stadium
Impact player: DT Devin Williams
Scoop: After just two years, Earl Garcia II is out as the head coach and former Clearwater Countryside defensive coordinator John Scargle is in. Didn’t get much out of the spring because of bad weather, but the Leopards did get to play Fivay in the classic and through varsity play, tied at 0-0. Playing defense won’t be the problem for Hernando. Scoring points on the other hand seems to be something to keep an eye on as the season progresses.

Team Overview by Coach Scargle:
Coach Scargle has high hopes for this 2022 Leopard Football team. Offensively, John Capel lll will open at quarterback, and lead a strong ground attack behind a very solid offensive line led by Smith, Harmon, Nilsen, Volberg, and Brown.. RB’s Langley, Tucker and Wilson will carry the load. The air-attack weapons of Cason Williamson, Cybryon Peeples, Leandre Wight, Angel Garrestequi, and Manny Acker, will be tough for opponents to cover.
Defensively, the Leopard’s are led by Team Captain and 4 year starter DT Devin Williams, DE Colton Ashworth, Rush ends, Peeples & Tucker, LB’s Westin Fenimore and Ryan Kelly. The secondary of Capel, Wright, Delmont, Acker, and Piermatteo will be very tough to throw against.
The return of LB/K Anthony Talpa will help bolster the defense and add a strong leg to the kicking game.
Winning the district and going deep into the playoffs is the goal.
