Floridians are getting a break from paying sales tax at the gas pump under a Gas Tax Holiday that began on Oct. 1 and continues through Oct. 31, 2022.
Signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis this past May, The Florida Motor Fuel Tax Relief Act reduces the cost-per-gallon-rate by 25.3 cents and applies to purchases of all gasoline products. The tax break represents $200 million in savings for consumers, the Governor’s office said.
On Oct. 3, the average price of gasoline in Hernando County was $3.203 according to the American Automobile Association (AAA). The average in Florida was $3.221.
The Florida Motor Fuel Tax Relief Act is contained in HB 7071 which provides more than $1.2 billion of tax relief for Floridians. The bill provides for ten sales tax holidays for a variety of items commonly purchased by Florida families.
