Springstead Eagles skillfully defended their undefeated record for their Homecoming game on Friday night Oct. 14. Springstead (now 8-0) handed Land O’ Lakes (now 6-1) their only loss of the season so far, beating them by a score of 27-17.
In the first quarter, with Land O’Lakes up by 7, Springstead’s offense was 1st and 12 when QB Kasey Kortman handed it off to No. 4 Connor Mccazzio who successfully evaded Land O’ Lakes’ defense a number of times for a 27-yard touchdown run.
Mccazzio topped that with an impressive 30-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Springstead’s defense came up big with a fumble recovery in the fourth quarter when Land O’ Lakes No. 23 was sacked and lost possession of the ball around the 50-yard line.
Springstead plays Mitchell (4-3) in New Port Richey Friday night Oct. 21, 2022. In their final regular season game on Nov. 4, the Eagles will take on Lecanto, currently 5-2. It’s full steam ahead for Springstead and their drive to finish the season undefeated.
