A Ridge Manor man and his passenger are dead after the pick-up truck he was driving left the roadway.
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Spokesman Sgt. Steve Gaskins said that at 10 a.m on Oct. 16, a Nissan pick-up truck driven by an 82-year-old man from Ridge Manor was traveling westbound on Hayman Road east of Batten Road in Brooksville when for some unknown reason vehicle left the roadway, entered the its north shoulder and collided with a culvert, a fence and a finally a tree.
The truck continued westbound and crossed the road’s travel lanes before coming to rest along the south shoulder of the roadway.
Both the driver and his 85-year-old female passenger also from Ridge Manor sustained fatal injuries at the scene.
