On the official White House website the release entitled “What They Are Reading in the States: President Biden’s Economic Agenda Ushers in Record Low State Unemployment Rates” contains a link to an article in your local Hernando Sun Newspaper. The release cites two articles on unemployment in Florida, one on WCJB TV and the other in the Hernando Sun Newspaper.
The White House only puts out a handful of releases a day, so it is notable to be cited in a release. The release that cited the Hernando Sun was published on October 24th and we noticed it this weekend as we do not monitor the White House site for citations of the Hernando Sun.
The Hernando Sun article that caught the White House’s attention was “State unemployment rate lowest since 2006” by Pat Raia. The article highlighted the 2.5 percent unemployment rate for Florida in September.
In addition to the coverage of the state unemployment the Hernando Sun article additionally delved into the numbers for Hernando County. We were one of the few media to report on this story as we have been hearing and noticing the difficulty local businesses are having hiring employees.
The White House Press team was looking for a high quality source with reporting on the local and state unemployment numbers and chose the Hernando Sun.
