The City of Brooksville has named David L. Howard, Jr. director of its Parks and Recreation Department. He succeeds Angie Whisnant who has occupied the post since 2019, and who resigned to assume a parks and recreation post in Illinois.
Before joining the City of Brooksville staff, Howard held positions in the Sports and Athletics, Parks and Recreation, and Underground Utilities departments in Panama City and Lynn Haven, Florida city governments.
A native of Daytona Beach, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Bethune Cookman University, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science Degree in recreation and park administration. Howard also holds credentials from the Abrahams-Jones Academy for leadership excellence and a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI).
He is an active member of the Bay Chamber of Commerce, International City Managers Association (ICMA), Florida City and County Management Association (FCCMA), National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA), and Florida Recreation and Parks Association (FRPA).
