Various superheroes will be appearing for a super cause this weekend. Major Toys, 7379 Spring Hill Drive in Spring Hill Plaza, will host a Toys for Tots collection event Saturday, Nov. 26th, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The event is in conjunction with the celebration of Small Business Saturday.
Batman (3-4 p.m.), Elsa of Frozen (1:30-2:30 p.m.), and Spiderman will be on hand to meet and greet guests throughout the event. In addition, HITS106 DJ Marvelous Marvin will be on hand, and free hot dogs, drinks, and prizes will be available. And as guests enjoy the event, they’ll have several creative opportunities to give to Toys for Tots.
“When a child comes in with a parent who buys a toy, the child will get a small toy–one that, depending on the family’s choice, could go to Toys for Tots or to the child,” said Mary Waldman, co-owner of Major Toys. “And we will be collecting toys for Toys for Tots. We will match a toy for every toy donated to Toys for Tots.”
The event marks the second time Major Toys has hosted an event benefiting Toys 4 Tots.
“We’re a family-owned business that is here for families,” said Waldman. “And here for the community.”
Atlanta McDonald, Senior Account Executive HITS 106, is proud to support this family and community event.
“Hits 106 partners with many local charities. It’s what we love about being the local radio station,” she said. “We have the reach to really make a difference in our community. And we get to have a lot of fun while doing it.”
And she is a big fan of Major Toys.
“Cindy is a retired schoolteacher, and Brad is a financial planner,” she said. “They have a beautiful family with like five kids. And they wanted to open a real-life toy store.”
Mary Waldman notes that Major Toys prides itself on being a locally owned toy store that hosts character events and special kid-centered happenings.
“We love to do things for the community,” she said. “And we want to make sure that kids have toys.”
