On Nov. 15, 2022, in the Shark tank, the Hurricanes lost their power. The Nature Coast girls’ basketball team schooled the Citrus Hurricanes, winning 71 – 12.
Team leaders for the Sharks are Senior #14 Gabriella Lee, who dominated the court against the Hurricanes Friday night with 19 points per game, nine rebounds per game, and eight steals per game. Sharks Junior #15 Isabella Castillo had six assists per game. Sharks Junior #25 Quintara Norwood had one block per game.
No. 13 Hannah Sciortino put nine points on the board, No. 33 Zoe Miller put six on the board, and No. 23 Jaida Grier put four on the board.
Girls Varsity Basketball Roundup
Springstead (2-1)
The Springstead varsity girls’ basketball team beat Crystal River 40-38 on 11/18. On Tuesday, 11/22, the varsity girls beat Seminole 34-27. Next up is Hernando at the Eagles Nest on 11/29 at 6:30 pm.
Nature Coast (2-0)
The Nature Coast varsity girls’ basketball team is currently on a two-game win streak. On 11/15, they played against Citrus and won by a score of 71-12. Gabriella Lee was selected Player of the Game. On 11/18, they played Lecanto and won 52-37. Next, the Sharks will take on the Gulf Buccaneers (2-0) on Monday, 11/28, at 7:30 pm at home.
Central (0-2)
Central still searches for their first win. They’ve played two home games so far. On 11/16, they lost to Hudson, 53-32. On 11/18, Central played Gulf and lost 50-9. They play Lecanto on 11/29 at 7:30 pm at home.
Hernando High (2-1)
On 11/15, the Hernando varsity basketball team lost their non-conference game against Gulf 43-39. Yet they ended the week strong, winning two non-conference games. On 11/17, they beat Pasco 56-44. Then, on 11/18, the team beat South Sumter 59-39. Congratulations to #4 Kayla Holloman for being selected for the Hernando Girls Basketball Player of the Game on 11/18.
Weeki Wachee (2-0)
The Hornets beat Cypress Creek Coyotes on Wednesday, 11/16, 57-35. They also beat Hudson 69-21 on 11/14. Coming up for the Hornets:
