Live Oak Theatre and Live Oak Conservatory are embarking on a busy week of holiday-themed performances – filling the community with songs of the season that are sure to get everyone of all ages in the holiday spirit.

It wouldn’t be Christmas in Hernando County without kicking things off with Live Oak Theatre’s annual “Christmas on Main Street” production in front of Brooksville Main Street’s “dancing” Christmas Tree!

Randi Olsen, Live Oak director, said, “Each year, Live Oak Theatre, Brooksville Main Street, Hernando County and the City of Brooksville work together to make downtown Brooksville into a real-life Hallmark Christmas movie set!”

Live Oak Conservatory is an extension of Live Oak Theatre, a not-for-profit 501 (C) (3) repertory company that enriches families, individuals and the community by providing positive artistic experiences in the performing arts. The conservatory offers extensive performing arts opportunities for children (PRE-K – 18) and adults. They offer beginning and advanced tap, jazz and ballet, voice, musical theatre, improv and acting at various levels.

Live Oak Theatre will host the 2022 Christmas on Main Street Tree Lighting this Thursday from 4 pm to 8:30/9 pm. All Conservatory students have been invited to sing along for a trio of festive numbers: Christmas Carol Medley, Deck the Halls (just before the tree lighting), and We Wish You a Merry Christmas to culminate the show.

All students will be wearing holiday attire that is either red, green, black, or white, with black pants/ tights and black shoes.
Songs performed will include “Joy to the World,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” “Happy Holiday,” “The Holiday Season,” “Jingle Bells,” “Santa Will Be Stopping by Tonight,” “All I Want for Christmas is You,” “Marshmallow World,” “Silent Night” and more.

Featured performers will include Live Oak Youth Theatre, Kaiden Rossiter, Randi Olsen with Live Oak Theatre, Ben Staley with Live Oak Theatre, Live Oak Trio and Dance Ensemble, Benjamin and Lenia Staley, Kaiden Rossiter, Amber Marino, Lexi, and Alannah Allocco, Live Oak Vocal Ensemble, Hazel Paulding, Alannah Allocco, Matthew and Bethany Romeo, and Live Oak Theatre and Friends.

“I also know that Matt and Bethany Romeo, who performed as leads in NEWSIES, will be singing ‘The Prayer,’” said Live Oak spokesperson and conservatory teacher Vince Vanni. “This is the first time they will perform together in public since their newborn son came into the world.”

“My family has been part of Brooksville’s Tree Lighting since my son Peder was 2 years old,” said Olsen. “He is now 14 and it’s been fun to see the Christmas on Main Street event grow along with our Live Oak Kids! They look forward to singing and dancing in front of the stage each year!”
