The second man involved in a shooting in Brooksville earlier this month has died, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
HCSO Public Relations Manager Denise Moloney said that on Jan. 6, deputies responded to the report of a shooting at a residence near Powell and Griffin roads in Brooksville.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the incident was related to a domestic dispute. Then on Jan. 7, HCSO investigators learned that two related men became involved in a verbal disagreement which escalated to both men being shot.
At the time of the incident, one man died at the scene. The other was taken to a local trauma center, where he was listed in critical condition.
On Jan. 12, that man died of injuries that he sustained in the shooting, Moloney said.
