City on a Hill – Coming Together for a Purpose

Matthew 5:14 states, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.”

This Saturday, March 4th, more than forty area churches, along with the Hernando Christian Ministerial Association (HCMA), Immerse Ministries and several non-profit agencies will come together for an all-day event to demonstrate this concept. A wide range of denominations will be represented, including Baptist, Methodist, Assembly of God and several non-denominational churches.

This outdoor event is free and open to the public and will take place at The Glory Ranch, 24440 Mondon Hill Rd, Brooksville.

Javen Mirabella, vice-president of HCMA, as well as President and Executive Director of Immerse Ministries explained the two-fold purpose of this occasion. First of all, they want to create unity among the people of the community. Second, is to focus on children in need of foster homes.

“We believe that the result of lifting up Jesus as one is that our community will be healed. There has been a massive lack for foster families in Hernando but we are believing after this event, a child without a home will be a thing of the past,” Mirabella remarked.

To this end, representatives from Kid’s Central, Door of Hope, Safe Families, Department of Children and Families (DCF) and other organizations will be there that day with information about fostering children.

According to a press release from City on a Hill, “After speaking with both DCF and Kid Central, it turns out that if just one family in each church in our community would be willing to foster just one child, every foster child in Hernando County would be housed by a loving family in an instant.”

The gates open at 10:30 a.m. Since there is limited seating available, everyone is encouraged to bring a chair and/or blanket.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase from a number of food trucks and vendors. Several government, nonprofit, and ministry organizations will be set up to answer questions about fostering and adoption and how to support foster families and children of Hernando County.

Throughout the day, there will be prayer and worship, messages from various ministers and individuals, and a call to fostering. The event will wrap up at 4:00 p.m.

Free tickets can be obtained at the following website: www.immerseministries.com or at the gate.
