A Weeki Wachee man is dead, and a Brooksville teen was seriously injured after the pick-up trucks they were driving collided on County Road CR-476 – Centralia Road.
According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Public Affairs Office Sgt. Steve Gaskins, around 6:45 p.m. on March 11, a pickup truck driven by a 63-year-old man from Weeki Wachee was traveling north on Sunshine Grove Road (CR-493) intending to turn right at the stop sign at the roadway’s intersection with Centralia Road (CR-476).
Meanwhile, a pick-up truck driven by a 16-year-old Brooksville woman was traveling eastbound on Centralia Road.
At the intersection, the Weeki Wachee man’s pick-up truck turned into the path of the one driven by the Brooksville teen, causing the front right of her vehicle to collide with the left front of the man’s vehicle.
As a result of the impact, both vehicles rotated until the Weeki Wachee man’s pick-up came to rest along the north shoulder of Centralia Road, and the Brooksville woman’s truck crashed into a traffic sign.
The Brooksville woman was seriously injured in the incident, Gaskins said.
The Weeki Wachee man was taken to an area hospital, where he later died from the injuries he sustained in the collision.
