A driver from Spring Hill and his four passengers sustained minor injuries in a collision that was fatal for a driver from New Port Richey.
According to Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Office (PAO) Sgt. Steve Gaskins, shortly before 2 pm on March 26, a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) driven by a 79 year-old-man from New Port Richey was traveling northbound on US-19 while a pick-up truck driven by a 35-year-old man from Spring Hill was traveling south on US-19.
At the intersection with Sea Ranch Drive, the SUV turned left into the path of the pick-up truck and collided with it.
As a result of the impact, the SUV and the pick-up truck both rotated until they respectively came to rest in the grass median and the west shoulder of the roadway.
The New Port Richey man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was fatally injured in the collision.
The Spring Hill driver and his passengers, a 30-year-old woman and three girls ages eight, ten, and four, all from Spring Hill and all wearing seat belts or child restraints, sustained minor injuries in the incident.
