National Volunteer Week was April 16-22, 2023 and the Museum Association recently honored volunteers with two events. Volunteers were invited to a luncheon at the Chinsegut Hill Conference Center dining hall. The extraordinary southern buffet was prepared by Veronica Lee and her team. The Chinsegut Site Manager, Ross Lamoreaux and his wife Amber presented an overview of the history of the historic property. Many of the volunteers took advantage of the opportunity to tour the Manor House and grounds. History lovers all, whether it was their first visit to the site or a return visit, museum volunteers soaked up the information and feel of Chinsegut Hill.
The second event was a picnic on the grounds of the May-Stringer honoring those who worked on the annual Haunted House event. One of the event coordinators and Board of Directors member, Tammy Oliveira hosted the event and fired up a grill! Two tables of pot luck specialties tempted the appetites of the crew who look quite normal without the Halloween costumes they sport for the October Haunted House!
The Museum volunteers are so much appreciated because they are the backbone that keeps the three buildings open to tell the story of the history of Hernando County.
Tickets are $50 for adults, $25 for children six and above, and will be sold at the three museum buildings on the day of the event.
