Today (Monday, April 24th), I was still contemplating what I was going to write about. We turned on the TV, and the first thing that popped up was the story that the FOX cable news corporation “let go” of its highest-rated personality, Mr. Tucker Carlson. That caught my attention in a way of something that shakes you up (like hearing about a large plane crash or a former president dying would do). Ok, maybe not that earth-shaking, but still important news!
I decided to fire up the computer and see what the cyber communities were saying about it. I started out with the Glenn Beck podcast, and he seemed as shocked as I seemed to be. Also, he spoke about something that would quickly be echoed throughout the conservative podcast communities. Glenn was quick to ask, “What the heck were they (the FOX executives) thinking?” The general consensus among the many “talking heads” was that he was being let go for reasons surrounding the big Dominion court case and, eventually, FOX paying them off to the tune of 787 (plus) million dollars)! Now, Mr. Carlson was not the first and only cable personality to be “cut loose.” Earlier last week, Dan Bongino (of the “Dan Bongino Unfiltered” show) was shown the door. Another big name (that was a key to CNN), Mr. Don Lemon, was let go as well. (Although his audience was much smaller than Tucker’s.) He stated (in paraphrase) that the management didn’t even have the courtesy to tell him of his firing to his face. (They told his agent, who gave him the “news flash!”)
Getting back to Tucker Carlson, his career has been quite ambitious. Glenn Beck mentioned that Carlson had been working for stations like CNN, MSNBC, and a show called “The Daily Caller.” He mentioned that Carlson came on to the FOX scene as a contributor in 2009 and was given his own show in 2016. Mr. Beck (as well as all the other podcasters I watched) said that Mr. Carlson was, hands down, the #1 person among cable news personalities.
After seeing what Mr. Beck had to say, I surfed the web until I came across another ex-FOX personality, Megyn Kelly. She also was shocked at the news and said, “This was a terrible move for FOX News!” She also stated that this was not a mutual understanding that had been brewing for a while. A clip from last Friday night’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” had him (Mr. Carlson) saying for all his watchers to have a good weekend with the ones that they love, and he would be back come the next Monday evening. Lastly, Ms. Kelly stated that many of the FOX viewers mainly stuck around to watch Tucker, and she then commented, “His viewers will now be my viewers.” She also stated that he will be big wherever he goes and whatever he does.
The final podcast I caught was from the PBD channel, titled “EMERGENCY Podcast| Reaction to Tucker Carlson Leaving FOX News & Don Lemon being Fired by CNN.” This podcast gave me some info that I did not see on the other ones. They mentioned that upon hearing of Mr. Carlson’s “employment adjustment,” his senior producer told the company execs, “See Ya!” He said he was going wherever Tucker was going (and followed him out the door)!
Now, I realize that this is all about a cable TV show, and there is a lot of fuss being made over it. The thing is that Mr. Carlson has earned the respect (and viewing) of a large fraction of the conservative market (myself and my family included). I am sure that once he (Mr. Carlson) gets situated in his next “gig,” we (and countless millions of other viewers) will be looking for him. Now I have just one last thought. I look back at what happened to the corporate bigwigs at Anheuser Busch when they allowed their woke sales and advertising department to okay an advertisement with a guy that has “come out” in a dramatic way (celebrating one year of “womanhood”). At last glance, it looks like that “oops” moment has cost them at least 5 billion dollars. Those of us that do not choose to condone and support the “woke” culture have the choice (and the chance) to let the corporations (that are vying for our hard-earned money) know that If you want to go woke, you may just go broke. We prefer our country, its leaders, and its supply force to respect our wishes and not cave to those that are set against the majority of patriots and people that still adhere to the tried and true ways of conservatism! Y’all have a blessed week!
