Kind words to the graduates: “Today I will choose to be happy”

Congratulations on achieving graduation. It is a day to celebrate and rejoice in the positive decisions you have already made. What next? As a student of history, I have read many biographies of famous people. There are a few that stand out for me. Anne Frank was a victim of the Holocaust, yet she made this decision; “Today I will choose to be happy.” Whatever happens to you, stay positive and focused on the person you want to be.
Abraham Lincoln, our 16th President had many detractors and enemies, yet he said “On the whole, my impression is that mercy bears richer fruits than any other attribute.” Having a forgiving spirit will free your soul to achieve your greatest potential.
The Apostle Paul authored many books in the Bible, he wrote “I will press on, or I will persist without exception.” When you are persistent, each failure gives you another opportunity to learn.
Choose your own biographies to read but learn from the vast experience of those who have walked this road before you. May you have a rich and fruitful life!
