Being schooled by pigs

As many of you readers have seen, in the past few weeks, I have been trying to rid our church grounds (and this county) of a nuisance herd (properly called a sounder) of feral pigs. They would come onto the property and till up the earth in a methodical manner. I had mentioned earlier to the leadership of the church that I would like to take a crack at eliminating the problem. Well, it may have eventually been solved in a roundabout manner, but not quite how I envisioned it. Getting “schooled” by these critters would be an understatement!

Looking back at all the ways I have been taught, I have learned some things in grade school, others in the military, and then even more survival-type skills living in and out of a truck for over 40 odd years. Then came “YouTube” and its suburban-based, blue-collar tutorials. With this site alone, one can learn (and watch) just about anything. I found out how to work on vehicles, appliances, and all sorts of gadgets and have seen modern (and near primitive) tools and procedures utilized to help keep the people on this big planet alive. As a matter of fact, I used a trip wire system (learned from a Far Eastern YouTube video) to close a gate on one of the pig traps. The gate closed when the pigs stepped into the path of the cord, but it was the pure determination of the captive animals to escape that later amazed me. (And showed me that I still needed to learn more about building a stronger trap.)

With one trap, I caught five pigs in one drop of the pen gate, and as the trail camera kept clicking pictures of their movement, all five of those critters squeezed through a mere five-by-five-inch mesh. The next night was a similar story, as I added some tighter mesh around the perimeter of that trap. Again, my underestimating their desire to survive surprised me as they bit through some chicken wire on the door and escaped. Their continued escapes were again an educational experience for me! The next occasion for a capture came a few nights later, as four of them could not figure out a way to save themselves. The rest of the “sounder” had to hear me “eliminate” one problem varmint after another. As of late, I have had trail cameras on both traps for 24 hours a day and have only once seen the shadow of one pig in the big trap area (in the last three days before writing this). And it only inserted its snout into the pen far enough to allow access to the food without going all the way inside. This was a hard lesson for them to learn, but pain (both physical and emotional) has a way of burning lessons into the brain. It may have been the hunting and trapping of these creatures that the Good Lord used to teach me something.

(Now, let’s shift gears here.) When things come easy to us, it slows us down to the point that we only reach for the low-hanging fruit. The allure of easy money (by way of unscrupulous acts and less-than-noble vocations) keeps our gut filled and our moral accounts dry. I see this present “regime” going for broke on an ex-president, with claims that he actually tried to say that the 2020 elections were rigged. Well, GUESS WHAT, THEY WERE! It has been said that if a lie is pushed on society so many times, it will actually start to cause people to think of it as the truth. And, with this done on such a great scale, where do you think that this will lead us? It will be slow and methodical at first, but everywhere you turn, you will not be able to escape the “socialist snare” that has been set (and is slowly choking our American values to death)! The politicians that have gotten a taste of (ultimate) power and will do anything and everything to keep it going have been sweet-talked (and paid off) by the likes of George Soros, Nancy Pelosi, and many more like them. Many of those who are allowed to walk those hallowed Capital halls and came in wanting to make a change for the better find themselves either coerced, blackmailed into “towing the line,” or kicked to the curb. Entities (like many of those metropolitan District Attorneys that won by way of “dirty money” and George Soros contributions) are good examples of people selling out their country for personal gain and fame. And I’ll bet that a lot of media reporters can see that the trash they are spewing is lies, but they have so many personal bills and payments that they must do and say whatever their corporate bosses tell them to do.

If we do not get a handle on this mass corruption soon, the powers in charge at present will strengthen their fortifications by adding more Supreme Court justices (in their favor). And they will try to bring in Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., as state entities, so there will not be any chance for a conservative party to hold this republic on its constitutional footing. Along with that, they will push hard and fast to get the paper dollars removed from circulation and crank up the CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency). So just like it is now in China, if you go against the system, they will be able to electronically choke you to the point of submission (or death)! Folks, we (individually and collectively) must learn to avoid these deadly traps and social “snares.” If we do not fix this situation soon, we will be like those pigs that escaped the traps (temporarily) and are in the dark, listening to their friends and family members being “permanently silenced.”

There is an inner strength that comes from our Creator to not just do those ordinary things but to join hands with those of similar patriotic values and, like precious faith, to reach for extraordinary things to help our nation. Either we are “all in,” or we are ALL DONE. Let what has happened to this country by way of a corrupt administration (and lack of patriotism “en masse”) be a hard lesson learned on what to never let happen again! Have a blessed week!
