Storylines:
Despite the departure of key seniors in QB Ayden Ferguson, WR Caidell Gilbert, OLB/TE Madden Buratczuk, and CB Luca Garguilo, the Eagles are hoping to continue their winning ways from last year – minus the roadblock of the Mitchell Mustangs. A season ago, the Red, White, and Blue were on a roll before their eight-game winning streak was snapped by the Mustangs. It may seem obvious to call a running back who ran for over 1,100 yards in 2022 someone to watch for, but Mccazzio has the potential to be just that. With the now-junior accomplishing this feat as an underclassman, Coach Garofano and company should lean on his talents in 2023. Considering the chemistry that Mccazzio and Kortman share, having played together since youth league, their connection could ease the senior quarterback into the starting role and lead to a big season for the signal caller.

Game to watch: Revenge. Plain and simple. On October 20, the Eagles will get another opportunity to take down the Mitchell Mustangs – at home, no less. The team from New Port Richey was the only squad to defeat Springstead last year, and they did so twice. This should be a fun one.
