The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has discovered the remains of a Brooksville couple reported missing from their home earlier this week.
According to HCSO Deputy Public Information Officer (PIO) Michael Terry, Albert and Cynthia Allen were reported missing from their home on Star Road in Brooksville at 3:15 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 29, after a family member noticed that their vehicle was missing from the residence.
Albert Allen, 76, suffered from dementia and is deaf; his wife, Cynthia, 74, was partially paralyzed as the result of a recent stroke. According to Terry, the couple was discovered deceased in their green 2005 Saturn Relay minivan early on Aug. 31 off Powell Road in Brooksville. “The vehicle was located hidden in the trees and difficult to spot,” Terry said. “It appeared to have been involved in a single-vehicle accident, but we don’t know if it was (the result of ) a medical episode or not.” Whether the couple’s absence from their home was hurricane-related is also unknown, Terry said.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is currently investigating the cause of the accident, he said.
