This weekend, a special event will generate proceeds and donated supplies for those impacted by Hurricane Idalia in Hernando, Pasco, and Citrus counties.

Party with a Purpose-Helping Flood Victims, presented by White Claw, JJ Taylor, and Rotary District 6950, will be celebrated from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday, September 2nd, at the Bayou Entertainment District- Starting Point Gill Dawg Event Center, Treadway Drive, Port Richey.

“Originally, this event was planned as the White Party,” explained Atlanta McDonald, Senior Account Executive HITS 106. “But we decided that if we were going to go ahead with the White Party, it would have to be a fundraiser. And it would have to help people locally, in Hernando, Pasco, and Citrus counties.”

Indeed, what began as an enjoyable community celebration has evolved into an effort to aid the thousands of people who lost homes, possessions, and property in Idalia.

“Rotary stepped up and got involved, and the district governor will be at the event,” said McDonald. “A number of Scout troops from the area also will arrive at 4 p.m.”

Hits 106 and DJ Marvelous Marvin (who will be a rolling party host courtesy of Hidden Creek Golf Carts) will broadcast live from 5-7 p.m. at this event, with participating locations including Gill Dawg, Thee Pirate Bar, Hooters, Seanyle Cove (old Seaside), Whiskey Joes and Rum River Catches.

At this event, The Volunteer Way will be onsite to collect food donations, pet food, cleaning supplies, and home goods items.

“People need so many supplies, including food, pet supplies, home supplies, diapers, wipes,” said McDonald.

Jello Shots will be available for sale, with all the proceeds going back to flood victims.
“The district Rotary Club will partner with us to collect money and distribute to flood victims in our area and up through Citrus County,” said McDonald. “You can donate at District 6950 Disaster Relief at rotary6950.org/relief.”

Also, at this event, guests can get vital information about how to give and receive assistance at this critical time.

“People can sign up to receive help with flooding and related issues,” said McDonald. “And they can sign up to help with clean-up duties.”

Fun will also be on the agenda at the Party with a Purpose. Kids will enjoy a Bounce House activity, and live music will be performed. In addition, those in attendance will be able to register to win a paddle board, fire pit, wagon, lounge chairs, and cooler. Folks will be welcome to bring their golf carts to move from place to place. The White Claw Street Team will be there handing out instant winner prizes while supplies last.

“We’ve only had a few days to put this together,” said McDonald. “But we knew we had to do it.”
