Supporting the arts in Hernando County is the entire purpose and mission of the Hernando County Fine Arts Council. And now, an area artist is doing something very special to give back. On Saturday, Sept. 23, Spring Hill’s Autum Proctor will host a Fundraiser for the Hernando County Arts, a presentation of Proctor’s business, Traveling Art Parties, and the Hernando County Fine Arts Council. The event happens from 5 to 9 pm at Aux US CG Hernando Beach, 4340 Calienta Street, Hernando Beach.

“Join us for another amazing fundraising event as we give back to our art community that has done so much for the city of Brooksville and keeping the arts alive,” reads an event notice. “There will be food trucks (including Sugar Shack), painting, tons of auction items to be won, and BYOB! Don’t miss out!”

As guests paint their own version of the beautiful, festive “Pretty Pumpkin,” an Autum Proctor original artwork (with all supplies included in the ticket price), they’ll be able to participate in an auction and raffle featuring tons of prizes to be won from local Hernando businesses. Auction tickets will be $1 each.

“We want to keep everything local for this one,” read the event notice. “So join us for food, painting, and tons of prizes to be won, all while helping a wonderful organization out!”
Half of all ticket sales and 100 percent of the auction ticket sales will go back to the Hernando County Fine Arts Council.

The mission of HCFAC “is to encourage, promote, and support all the creative arts in Hernando County and to provide a means to showcase the arts. Through advocacy, engagement, education, and art-inspired programs and events, we work to fulfill this mission. We are dedicated to providing accessible opportunities that invite art into the lives of Hernando County residents and visitors. We advocate for our growing community of artists and patrons of the arts. Through our strategic partnerships with organizations, agencies, civic groups, and nonprofits, we work to keep art a key component of our community.”

“The Hernando County Fine Arts Council is a volunteer-driven and donor-supported nonprofit, and contributions help us to encourage local artists, provide arts opportunities, and make the arts more accessible here in Hernando County,” said Allisa Babor, chairperson of the Hernando County Fine Arts Council. “We are so grateful to be the recipient of this fundraiser and thankful for Autum’s generosity and all who attend the event!”

Proctor, an award-winning painter, sculptor, and muralist whose work appears everywhere from private homes to putt-putt golf courses, the Downtown Brooksville Art and Wine Stroll, and the Destination Mermaid Tail Trail, is an active member of and volunteer with the Hernando County Fine Arts Council.

“I can not say enough how much this group does for the community! It’s such an honor to be a part of it,” she said. “They are constantly pushing to help bring the arts into Hernando County. So I’m very happy to be able to give back to such an amazing organization through this fundraiser.”

The council hosts and supports local art happenings, programs, and partnerships to provide artists avenues to showcase their work through public art projects, festivals, contests, and various events to provide and support arts education for all ages. HCFAC is designated as Hernando County’s local arts agency by Hernando County and the state of Florida. In addition to offering funding for art initiatives through their grant programs, they offer support and resources to artists, nonprofits, and art-related businesses.

“We support Traveling Art Parties and are grateful for Autum’s commitment to supporting the arts here in Hernando County,” said Jessica Knutila, administrative assistant of the Hernando County Fine Arts Council.
