A teenager from Brooksville was killed when the ATV he was driving left the roadway and collided with a tree.
According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Public Affairs Officer Sgt. Steve Gaskins, around 4:40 pm on Sept. 16, a 2021 Yamaha Raptor ATV driven by an 18-year-old man from Brooksville was traveling west on Langworthy Drive south of Rester Drive, when the teen failed to negotiate a curve in the road, entered the grass shoulder, rotated and struck a wire fence before it finally struck a tree.
The teenage driver was ejected from the vehicle and also struck the tree. He was subsequently taken to an area hospital, where he later died from the injuries he sustained in the incident.
