As the season of Autumn falls gently on the landscape, it seems like the perfect time for a wine tasting; and as guests at the Fourth Annual Wine Tasting Event enjoy the very finest of richest spirits, they’ll be lending a helping hand to some special four-legged friends in the process.
This event, a fund-raiser for Operation Kindness, will take place at Strong Tower Vineyard, 17810 Forge Drive, Spring Hill, on Saturday, October 14, from 7 – 9 p.m. Operation Kindness is a nonprofit organization providing financial and in-kind support to HCAS (Hernando County Animal Services) to enhance the care of all animals in placement.
Aside from the sampling of exquisite wines, this gathering will feature a dessert table, raffles, a silent auction, 50/50 drawings and door prizes.
“This is our 4th Wine Tasting Event which helps us to raise awareness about the shelter and OK for HCAS,” said Abby Evert, president of Operation Kindness. “It also provides vital financial support for the needs of our shelter animals. So importantly, it strengthens the relationships within our animal-loving and business community to enhance support to our animals.”
Funds generated from events such as this one enable and empower Operation Kindness to lend an essential “helping paw” to animals in need; funding programs that support their health and fortitude.
“This year, funding has allowed us to provide additional medical equipment for the HCAS Vet Clinic including surgical lighting, an oximeter and higher-end surgical packets. Generous donations also helped us to support some very special animals through our medical expense fund,” said Evert. “During the summer, we purchased new collapsible pools for each of the spree areas to replace small plastic tubs which didn’t offer much cooling relief, as well as a new agility tunnel.”
Operation Kindness also works with other animal help agencies to guarantee that these precious creatures lead their best lives–paving and easing the path to lead them to their forever homes.
“We were also asked to participate financially in a new collaborative effort to transfer some of our harder-to-place dogs to an out-of-state rescue/sanctuary, and wow, do these dogs love the snow!” said Evert.
Through the years, the wine tasting has come to rank among the most popular OK fund-raisers. “Finally, when we stopped holding this event due to Covid, so many of our supporters and participants asked us over and over again when the event was coming back,” said Evert. “Why? It’s a terrific way to support shelter animals and have a fun evening out!”
Tickets are still available for the Fourth Annual Wine Tasting Event. “So please join us and enjoy the raffles, 50/50, silent auction, door prizes and the wonderful dessert table,” said Evert. “The animals truly appreciate your support!”
